Apart from demonstrating the latest research in the field, the degrowth conferences aim at promoting cooperation in the development of scientific and political proposals and facilitation of networking and the flow of ideas between various actors working on degrowth, especially in academia. Five international degrowth conferences have been organized so far:<\/p>\n

\"green\u00a01st international\u00a0conference<\/strong> in Paris (2008)<\/a> hosted by Telecom sud-Paris on “Economic Degrowth for Social Equity and Ecological Sustainability<\/i> ” with 140 researchers from 30 countries<\/p>\n

\"red\u00a02nd international\u00a0conference<\/strong> in Barcelona (2010)<\/a> hosted by the Autonomous University of Barcelona. It has been focusing on developing clear policy proposals and strategies for action on degrowth and define the key open questions and research agenda<\/i>, with more than 400 researchers from 40 countries.<\/p>\n

\"green\u00a0Conference of the Americas<\/strong> in Montreal (2012)<\/a> hosted by the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al, McGill University,Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, HEC Montreal and Concordia University) with 340 academics, activitsts and environmentalists, focusing on the particular situations and dynamics of the Americas<\/i>.<\/p>\n

\"red\u00a03rd international\u00a0conference<\/strong> in Venice (2012)<\/a>\u00a0hosted by Associazione per la Decrescita, Spiazzi, IUAV, Universit\u00e1 di Udine, Citt\u00e1 di Venezia, Arci,\u00a0Kuminda and Sesterzo on “The big transition: Degrowth as a passage of civilization”, <\/i>with 1000 participants from 40 countries.<\/p>\n

\"green\u00a04th international conference<\/strong> in Leipzig (2014)<\/a> hosted by Konzeptwerk Neue \u00d6konomie, F\u00f6rderverein Wachstumswende e.V., DFG-Research Group \u201cPostwachstumsgesellschaften\u201d at the University of Jena, University of Leipzig with almost 3000 people.<\/p>\n
